Spiro·naut Laura Himel Theriot helps bring experiences to life for our clients the same way she brings experiences into her own life, with a curious mind & a desire to look beyond what we’re used to doing to create experiences that are truly unique.

What superpower do you bring to work?
Before working in events, I was an architect & that helps me to envision what the event is going to look like in reality. It gives me a sense of the experience & spatial feeling before execution.
How do you refine & sharpen your skills?
I really absorb what the designers share so I can understand what we are presenting to the client. I love the design phase of an event, as it sparks inspiration & creativity that bring the design to life.
I also read event publications like BizBash to see what is being done in the industry & for new potential partners to help create experiences for our clients.
What excites you about your work & our industry?
I think what excites me the most about my job is that I'm constantly learning something new & I use those experiences (both good & bad) to help me find solutions to problems that arise.
What’s the coolest thing you’ve done or place you’ve visited?
Hmmm… I love new experiences & I am always open to trying new things! I feel like I have some pretty neat experiences & have gone to some amazing places, but if I was to choose something that is unique to me –
I went to space camp when I was in high school & then attempted flight lessons. I wound up getting a bit freaked out when they told us that they’ll be turning off the plane mid-air, so students learn how to start it back up… I never went back. 😂
What makes Spiro™ stand out from other agencies?
We approach experiences in a different way. I love getting together with team members & clients alike to brainstorm how to create unique & powerful experiences—it’s one of my favorite things about this industry!
What’s an interesting fact that people may be surprised to learn about you?
That I love roller coasters! That even shocks my husband because I have a fear of heights & riding down escalators. I know, I'm weird. LOL.
What else would you like to share from your world?
You can always find me in the kitchen whipping something up. I love to bake & I am a whiz at transforming leftovers into a completely new meal the next day.
I also enjoy painting pets & have my three dachshunds pose as models all the time, especially for our Christmas cards!
