Spiro·naut Sarah Swafford Director on our New Business Development team approaches brand experiences like she does her vacation time—with an open-mind, a sense of adventure and a ready-for-anything attitude!

Coming to you from Mesa, Arizona read Sarah’s unique perspective on developing connections with brands, travel, and working in the exciting indutry of events & experiences.

What superpower do you bring to work?

I get along with everyone. I believe that every individual offers a unique perspective, so I view every conversation as an opportunity to learn something new.

This ability has served me both personally and professionally. Building a rapport with clients and developing a deeper understanding of their goals is the best part of my job!

How do you hone that skill and/or stay up to date?

I love to network and meet new people!

What excites you about your work and our industry?

As a brand evangelist by nature, if I've been introduced to a product or brand that I feel has a truly unique offering, everyone in my network will know about it. Ask me about how many Dyson Airwrap purchases I've influenced 😉.

I love working in this industry because I have the opportunity to connect brands to the communities that matter most to them, plus it’s a lot of fun!

What’s the coolest thing you’ve done or place you’ve visited?

I recently had the opportunity to attend a friend’s wedding in Alaska. Even though I'm no nature junky, taking a helicopter tour of Knik Glacier AND drinking the ice-cold water from the melt is a memory that won't be forgotten anytime soon!

What makes Spiro™ stand out from other agencies?

It's not often you find an agency that has both brains and bronze. From ideation to execution, we're a one stop shop for any event or brand experience!

What’s an interesting fact that people may be surprised to learn about you?

I'm adventurous! I once showed up to John F. Kennedy (JFK) International Airport with a week off work, a carry on packed with no ticket or particular destination in mind. Eight hours later, I was in Barcelona.

This zeal for adventure and “fly by the seat of your pants” travel hasn't always worked out so well... It has also left me stranded in a remote village in Thailand, having to be rescued by a local cafe owner. Her name was Doughnut, her coffee shop was named Doughnut, she sold everything except Doughnuts.

What else would you like to share from your world?

I would love to learn how to play the piano.
