Spiro·naut Feature: Samantha (Sam) Clark
What makes our Spiro•nauts out of this world while thriving in the NEW NOW™? Welcome to our series featuring behind-the-scenes peeks of what drives their distinctive THERE•ness™!
Meet Spiro·naut Sam Clarke, Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist with our Global Talent Acquisition Team, for her take on better understanding people and departments–and what it’s like to live in a medieval residence.
Coming to you from the small coastal town of Lynton, North Devon in England, check out this glimpse into Sam’s world—both in and outside of work.
What superpower do you bring to work?
My top-notch detective skills! Asking lots of questions allows me to cut through the CVs and job specs to uncover what is really important.
How do you refine and sharpen your skills?
I find that getting on-site with the team and lending a helping hand wherever I can gives me valuable insight that helps me fully understand the job and everything it entails from start to finish.
What excites you about your work and our industry?
Being able to watch each department “do their thing” like a team of honeybees and being able to see the magic unfold at the event is extremely exciting for me! I also love it when I find people who bring a new dimension to the business.
Tell us the coolest thing you’ve done or place you’ve visited!
I lived in a medieval moat house on the Derbyshire / Leicestershire border with my family for three years from 2013.
Due to its archeological interest, English Heritage designated the land as a Scheduled Ancient Monument, and the house is considered to be the finest preserved medieval house on a moated site in the United Kingdom. It’s a truly magical place, especially with two young children.
What makes Spiro stand out from other agencies?
With Spiro, it's all about the people, the knowledge, and the attitude. We hire the best people, and in giving them all they need to succeed, we keep hold of them. We have some of the industry’s most valuable talent, attract the best clients, and produce the most impressive work.
What’s a fact that people may be surprised to learn about you?
I am a singer in a “Sea Shanty” Choir (even before The Wellerman became popular).
What’s your favorite pastime?
We love the sea and regularly take our RIB (rigid inflatable boat) out to Lundy Island, a haven for rare wildlife, where we are often greeted by wild dolphins, seals, and puffins.
