Spiro·naut Feature: Amanda Shulman

What makes our Spiro•nauts out of this world while thriving in the NEW NOW™? Welcome to our series featuring behind-the-scenes peeks at what drives their distinctive THERE•ness™!

Meet Spiro·naut Amanda Shulman, Senior Strategic Account Manager with our Global Corporate Accounts Team, and check out her take on reading, empathy, connection, community, and a little thing called work/life balance.

Coming to you from Uxbridge, Massachusetts, check out this glimpse into Amanda’s world—both in and outside of work.

What superpower do you bring to work?

I am an empath by nature, and I think that helps when it comes to working on a team and collaborating with clients. I think it is important to understand people’s needs in order to cultivate meaningful relationships, both personally and professionally.

How do you refine and sharpen your skills?

I stay up to date by being in on the action as much as I can.

Traveling to show sites is crucial to see how everything comes together in real life. Walking the show floor to see what everyone is doing and learning what new technologies are making waves is helpful when working with our clients.

What excites you about your work and our industry?

I really enjoy seeing how every event and booth space we create and manage is different from show to show. It is always changing and doesn't ever feel stale.

What’s the coolest thing you’ve done or place you’ve visited?

I recently visited Venice, Italy for the first time and it quickly became a favorite place of mine. I instantly felt transplanted into the past and enjoyed roaming the streets and getting lost on purpose. It was truly another world.

What makes Spiro stand out from other agencies?

Spiro values connection and community, which helps build morale amongst teams internally, and when working with clients. Without those aspirations, we wouldn't be able to serve ourselves or our clients truthfully.

We aren't just here to start and finish an experience–it is really about the entire journey.

What’s an interesting fact that people may be surprised to learn about you?

I just finished reading my 60th book so far for 2022. I set a goal of 25 books and have surpassed it by a lot! Despite the hectic life of work and family, reading at night has become my wind-down ritual, and keeps me (somewhat) sane.

What’s a favorite quote you can share with us?

I try to reference this quote often from the honestly funny and inspiring Dolly Parton: “Don’t get so busy making a living that you forget to make a life.”

Work/life balance is so important. Keep that in mind, friends!
